‘Suited and booted’: New My Brother’s Closet available on Morse Road
“It’s an opportunity to help build self-confidence, and for men to come in here and say, ‘Look at me; I’m suited, I’m booted, and I am ready for any opportunity there is that will come my way’,” said Stephanie Hightower, President and CEO of Columbus Urban League.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Goodwill Columbus and Columbus Urban League have teamed up to bring a new My Brother’s Closet shopping area to the Goodwill store along Morse Road.
It’s a place where men who were formerly incarcerated, underserved or marginalized can get a suit and work on their professional appearance and interview skills.
“The individuals themselves are getting a second chance, since they were formerly incarcerated coming back,” said Ryan Burgess, President and CEO of Good will Columbus. “Helping them immerse back into society.”
The new My Brother’s Closet served 20 people on Thursday.
Special suit selection days will take place each month for My Brother’s Closet participants.
