Shaping a Talented Workforce
Hard Outcomes: Since September 2012, CUL’s workforce initiatives have launched more than 500 people into full-time employment.
Objectives: Help chronically un- or under-employed adults, including those with a criminal record, find and keep stable jobs. Prepare individuals for additional training, credentialing or certifications that increase their value and their earning potential. Connect each to a job coach to guide career decision-making and assist in securing other necessary resources. Some receive personal support while in training.
Approach: This three-week module teaches resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, appropriate workplace and excellent customer service. It also explores the multitude of “next step” options including stackable certifications in the hotel and lodging industry. All participants work with a job coach to devise goals and a life plan.
Evidence: Even in a challenging economy, CUL has assisted hard-to place individuals to join careers with salaries of $10.00/hour and above. We have met 100% of our placement goals, helping people work in general office clerical and administrative, construction, health care and other fields. We continue coaching participants long after employment to ensure long-term success.
