Ready for School Success

Your Columbus Urban League hosts three 5-star rated Head Start programs on Columbus’ south side as a partnership agency under the YMCA Headstart Grant, preparing children both academically and socially to succeed in kindergarten. All CUL Head Start graduates enter school reading or reading ready.

We provide high quality educational experiences to pre-schoolers from low income families (there are no fees for this federally-funded program). In addition, we aim to stabilize the entire family by connecting parents to other needed resources through CUL and community connections.

CUL’s comprehensive, proven curriculum advances every child’s social/emotional, cognitive and physical development as measured by regular assessments. All three sites, serving 85 students combined, have earned the highest quality rating — 5-stars — by the Ohio Step Up To Quality Initiative.
