Education Services Department

The mission of the Education Services Department is to provide high quality services that equip all members of the community with skills and information that empower to create life changing opportunities.

The Education Services department offers a multitude of programs designed to provide tutoring assistance, substance abuse education and prevention, technological skill building, assistance for victims of crime, HIV/AIDS education, plus other services that seek to strengthen, preserve and restore individuals and families:

African American Peer Leadership Alliance Against Tobacco (APLAT)

To prevent the use of tobacco among African American youth and provide a clear and audible voice for young people in the tobacco control and prevention movement.

To help children improve their Reading /Comprehension, Math, Computer, and Science Skills. This program is also designed to keep children and parents informed about different educational requirements and opportunities that are available.

HIV/AIDS Education & Prevention

To prevent the infection and transmission of HIV in the community through HIV testing and counseling, prevention education and community outreach.

To assist and provide culturally competent services to African Americans and other minorities who qualify as victims of crime.

Camp Read and Rise Summer Literacy

To build reading and literacy skills through science and other non-traditional methods for young people in grades 2 to 8.

This program also works to enhance children's knowledge of identifying different plants, animals and wildlife according to their characteristics.
