Position Announcement: Loss Mitigation Specialist
Reports To: Fair Housing Director

Position Summary:
The Loss Mitigation Specialist will provide homeowners experiencing mortgage loan hardships with counseling and case management services to determine suitability of work-out plans. The ideal candidate must be creative and have strong underwriting skills and knowledge. Candidate will interact with lenders, loan servicers, and others to facilitate mortgage delinquency resolutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Counsels customers and recommends alternative options and solutions to foreclosure.
· Performs complex financial analysis on delinquent mortgage loan workouts.
· Negotiates settlements with servicers, lenders, attorneys, and others to resolve delinquency.
· Establishes payment plans and options based on analysis of customer's finances.
· Create and maintain customer case files.
· Extract and review customer credit reports; establishes a budget and corrective action plan.
· Compile and prepare program reports, as required
· Maintain and update client files within client database management systems
Minimum Qualifications:
· High School Diploma/GED, college degree preferred and/or licensure.
· 2 years experience in loss mitigation, mortgage loan processing and underwriting; or other relevant experience.
· Working knowledge of foreclosure and workout options, bankruptcy and deficiency laws.
· Ability to read and interpret mortgage loan documents and to make sound financial decisions based upon such analysis.
· Must possess strong organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills and strong knowledge of collection laws.
· Ability to prioritize and multi task.
· Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel Spreadsheets, Access database system and other web based applications.
· Must be goal oriented, self-directed and willing to accept additional responsibilities and challenges.
· Must have reliable transportation. Some out-of-state travel may be required.
