Position Announcement: Health and Nutrition Manager

Position Summary:
The Health and Nutrition Manager works as a part of the Health team to integrate Head Start services for children and families and assists with education and early childhood health services to include medical, dental and child safety. This position serves as a member of the administrative team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assists with the planning, convening and implementation of policies and/or procedures of the
semi-annual Health Services Advisory Committee meetings.
· Knows and implements sections of the Head Start Performance Standards to include fire drills, first aid kits, medication administration systems and child safety.
· Establishes relationships and develops a thorough knowledge of health resources that assist
families establish a medical home.
· Provides health education to families through workshops, parent meetings, handouts, etc.
· Keeps complete records and documentation of all contacts.
· Processes and maintains individual health records on children. Reviews, evaluates, and interprets
health records, vital statistics and other data affecting health services.
· Assists with screenings, re-screenings and follow-ups for all health services.
· Serves as a health resource to Teachers and Family Service Advocates.
· Attends any training, workshops and meetings deemed necessary by the supervisor.
· Follows the state and federal regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect, maintaining strict
confidentiality of all information.
· Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to Head Start children, families and staff in
accordance with established policies and procedures.
· Regularly observes classrooms and provides health, safety and sanitation consultations as needed.
· Monitors and maintains contents of classroom first aid kits, assuring appropriate inventories are
in compliance with child care licensing and/or other regulatory agencies regarding contents.
· Understands, generates and documents in-kind and other allowable costs.
Qualifications:
· Associate Degree in Nursing, or higher, plus two years health care experience.
· RN licensure by the State of Ohio Board of Nursing Education and Nursing Registration.
· Experience working in public health and/or nutrition and working with low-income clients preferred.
· Experience or knowledge of family strengths/family-centered practice preferred.
· Must be willing and able to obtain Basic First Aid, CPR Certification and maintain certification.
· Acceptable tuberculosis screening results, a clear criminal records check and an initial health exam are required post job offer and prior to employment.
